EXAMINING YOUR FAILURE
By; Peter Oluwatomiwa Timothy
But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. – Hebrews 13:16
A narrative of a student who shares knowledge with peers in an examination hall, only to be penalized with failure by the supervisor for doing so, is a recurring theme in academic settings. Despite this setback, the student perseveres in disseminating knowledge to fellow students, driven by empathy for those struggling financially to pay tuition fees and subsequently facing academic setbacks. One day, the student appeals to God, saying, ‘I am exercising the gift of knowledge You’ve endowed me with, fulfilling Your will by impacting others. However, many lecturers are now reprimanding me for following Your directives, despite Your awareness of my purpose for being admitted to this institution.’ Unfortunately, this student’s commitment to sharing knowledge results in extended years within the school premises.
- That’s a powerful story of perseverance!
The student’s heart for sharing knowledge despite facing setbacks is inspiring.
It reminds me of Matthew 5:16, “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and give praise to your Father in heaven.”
- The student’s prayer shows his faith in God’s purpose. Often, when we’re aligned with our purpose, challenges come, but persistence and faith can lead to breakthroughs.
GOD’S RESULT SPEAKS
Notwithstanding his lecturer’s concerns regarding his mediocre academic performance and the likelihood of prolonged schooling, the student has redirected his efforts towards cultivating a professional network consisting of peers, mentors, and individuals who share his objectives, while investigating non-traditional platforms to disseminate his knowledge, such as creating digital content and offering tutoring services in unconventional settings.
Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
