WHERE IS THY VICTORY

WHERE IS THY VICTORY
By; Peter Oluwatomiwa Timothy

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

  • 1 Corinthians 15:55

Jesus’ resurrection is a cornerstone of Christian faith:
After Jesus’ crucifixion and burial, his body was gone from the tomb on the third day. Angels announced to the women who came to anoint his body, “He is not here; he has risen!” (Matthew 28:6).

Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, then to his disciples, showing them his wounds. He proved he was alive, eating with them and speaking about the kingdom of God.

The resurrection signifies Jesus’ victory over death, sin, and Satan, offering salvation to humanity. As he said, “Because I live, you will live also” (John 14:19).

RESURRECTION POWER
The resurrection is a powerful one. Let’s look at the story of Lazarus in John 11.

Lazarus, a dear friend of Jesus, was sick and died. Jesus arrived four days after his burial, and Martha, Lazarus’ sister, told Jesus, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” Jesus replied, “Your brother will rise again.”

Martha thought he meant the resurrection at the end of time, but Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”

Jesus then went to the tomb, a cave with a stone covering it, and said, “Take away the stone.” He prayed, then shouted, “Lazarus, come out!” And Lazarus came out, still bound in his burial clothes.

Study the Powerful Bible verses about Resurrection:

  • John 11:25-26 – “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:55 – “O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”
  • Romans 6:5 – “For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection.”
  • 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 – “But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.”
  • Acts 2:24 – “Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.”
  • Philippians 3:10-11 – “That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”

LET PRAY!

  1. “Lord, I thank you for the gift of resurrection power in Jesus. Help me to believe in your power to give life and overcome death. Strengthen my faith and give me hope in your promises. Amen.”
  2. “Father, I thank you for Jesus’ resurrection power that gives me life and hope. Help me apply it to my situation [mention specific need if you want]. Strengthen my faith and let your promises guide me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
